How do I use the AnaConDa (Anaesthetic Conserving Device from Sedana Medical) with Hamilton Medical ventilators?

Background

The AnaConDa is an anesthetic delivery system developed for the administration of volatile anesthetics such as Isoflurane or Sevoflurane to invasively ventilated patients. Use of the AnaConDa system in combination with all Hamilton Medical ventilators has been successfully validated by Sedana Medical.

Connecting the AnaConDa

The AnaConDa applicator and filter should be connected in the same way as a bacterial and viral HMEF.

Figure 1 shows the correct positioning and connection of the AnaConDa system.

The order of the adapters should be as follows:

  • Y-piece
  • CO2 sensor
  • Flow Sensor
  • AnaConDa

You can also find information in your ventilator’s Operator’s Manual about connecting a bacterial and viral HMEF closer to the patient to protect the flow sensor from humidity.

The expiratory valve is connected to the scavenging system by means of an adapter (which is part of the circuit).
